"Stick To Your Roots" - F.R

So... towards the end of the year I kindda seemed to have lost a few "friends" and I just want you to know, be careful of who you befriend because some people end up being ungrateful and leaving you in the dirt once they become "popular." How high school is that? And no I'm not talking about L-Bert.

There's this girl I met end of '07... she was so quite and she would just sit by herself during events and I was the one who befriended her and got her to be more social. I was the one who was always there for her when she needed rides or something. And if I couldn't get her or take her home, I'd make sure someone else did. Now... I don't even know her anymore because she's found her own little group of friends and just left the ones who brought her to where she is now.

I also got close to this guy mid fall of '07 until... stuff happened. We used to be so close. If we ever needed each other we would've been there for each other, but funny how much crap people talk about you once you grow apart. It's like we were never even friends. He's becoming "close" NOW to someone he should've been close to... probably when he was born. This person you're "getting close to" would rather choose others over you, even if you were dying. I hurt for you when he said what he said because it was just so wrong on many levels, and I never told you because I know it would've hurt you to hear something like that. Don't be so naive. Blood may be thicker than water, but in this case, to them... it's water.

I understand drama happens and people fall out of friendships... that's life, but I just wish people would stop taking their first friends for granted and leaving them behind just because they fit into the "popular" crowd. You're only "popular" for so long, and who even knows if it's actual popularity or people are only using you to get further in life? Think about it.Don't ditch your girl friends or guy friends or true friends for a guy or a girl because when you have problems with anything, when you stop seeing that guy/girl, who is going to be there? Sure as hell not that guy or girl! So like the drunken birthday girl said last night, "stick to your roots."

Go back and think about who your real friends are and who brought you to where you are now. Would you be where you are if it weren't for those who befriended you first? Grow up and think for yourselves. Don't be a lemming.
